     Today in class we learned about theme vs central idea. Theme is the moral, lesson, or message of a text. Central idea is what the story is mainly about but not the topic of the text. We then analyzed 2 texts and drew themes from both of them. Afterwards, we continued our origin myth stories.

2/8 - Characterization Activity

      My name is Troy Maxson, and I'm garbage man. Since working in the trash industry, my sense of smell has become my least favorite for what I assume to be obvious reasons. Trash collecting definitely wasn't my ideal line of work, but it's what keeps the bills paid and the family fed. As a black man in America with a record, and a lackluster education what other options do I have? I wanted to be one of those baseball players, I was really good at it too. Nowadays, the only throwing I do is the garbage into the truck.
