 Today we started class with an infinite campus check. Our bell ringer was to watch a video on Langston Hughes and answer some questions.  We then read and analyzed a poem of his called "The Negro Speaks of Rivers". We also talked about the differences between race, ethnicity, and nationality. Below is a picture of the annotations we did today.

2/8 - Characterization Activity

      My name is Troy Maxson, and I'm garbage man. Since working in the trash industry, my sense of smell has become my least favorite for what I assume to be obvious reasons. Trash collecting definitely wasn't my ideal line of work, but it's what keeps the bills paid and the family fed. As a black man in America with a record, and a lackluster education what other options do I have? I wanted to be one of those baseball players, I was really good at it too. Nowadays, the only throwing I do is the garbage into the truck.
