3/31

Today in class we read three short poems. We then analyzed the poems as a class. Afterwards, we started a test (also as a class). When we came back from lunch we continued the test but didn't finish.

3/30

Today in class, we went over the test format for our EOC which is in April. We also talked about some current events. We didn't really do anything else which was nice. I gave an amazing performance and people walking past the room were asking "is that beyonce in there?"

3/29

Today in class we took a 24 question test. The questions were about the story we read yesterday, "The Rockpile". I missed one question. Afterwards, we went over the answers.

3/28

As John picked up his father's lunchbox, Gabriel kicked him in the face and screamed. Elizabeth storms out the room and yells at Gabriel and they get into an argument. As Elizabeth tries to escape, Gabriel grabs her arm aggressively and she runs to the kitchen and grabs a knife. She then comes back and stabs Gabriel. After she calms down, Elizabeth and her children flee the city and they move to Guatemala.

Today in class we presented our unpopular opinion assignments. An image of the assignment is attached below.

3/23

Today in class, we started with a bell ringer about coping with issues when life has you down. We then started on an assignment about unpopular opinions and drew topics from a bucket. The opinion I got was that "not all babies are cute".

3/21

Today in class, we started presenting our current event powerpoints. We got through three groups and there are two groups left tomorrow. My group is going last because of course, you have to save the best for last! Our topic is the effect tik tok has on the mental health of minors.

3/18

Today I was absent from school. Basically, I was at the bus stop (on time) and the bus drove right past us. I guess she was running late for the middle schoolers so she had to take them first and come back to get us. So then after a couple minutes I go back home to change my sweatshirt real quick. Then I come back out and go back to the bus stop but I forgot my chapstick and headphones so I ran back in the house. As soon as I come back out the house and run back to the bus stop... the bus goes past.

3/16

Today in class we talked about a hypothetical invasion of the United States by China and Russia. We came to the conclusion that it would likely never happen and even if it did, they would not succeed. We then started a project on current events and our group got the topic of there not being enough black coaches in the NFL. Luckily, we were able to trade topics with another group and now we have the topic of tik toks impact on minor's mental health.

3/15

Today in class we finished our benchmarks. We only did the last question which was an essay question. For whatever reason, Mr. Rease expected us to right a 21 sentence essay about 2 amendments. That really could have been like 5 sentences.

3/14

Today in class we took our second benchmark. There are 20 questions and we answered 19 of them. We will answer the last question tomorrow. I think I'm doing good so far.

3/10

Today in class we presented our worksheets on "Ambush" that we did in class on tuesday.  My Role was Literary Luminary which is to find (five) important quotes from the story. Our groups presentation was cut short because we ran out of time. We don't have school tomorrow.

3/9

Today in class, we worked on questions for "Ambush" (the story we read yesterday). There were 10 questions but we didn't do number 9. For those who didn't finish yesterdays assignment, they got to finish it with the rest of the time.

3/8

Today in class, we picked new seats and started a group activity. We first read the story "Ambush" by Tim O'Brien. Afterwards, we each were assigned a literature circle role to analyze the text. My Role was Literary Luminary which is to find (five) important quotes from the story.

3/7

Today in class we took notes on arguments and claims. We learned the three types of evidence which are readings, observations, and experience. We discussed the topic of academic cheating being out of hand. After we came back from lunch we presented our poems.

3/4

Today in class, we read two more Emily Dickinson poems. The first poem was called "Hope is the Thing with Feathers". The second poem was "Heart, we will forget him!" We then created our own poems. We will present these poems on Monday.

3/3

Today in class we read "I Felt a Funeral in My Brain" by Emily Dickinson. We then analyzed the text and came up with three themes. The first theme was to take care of your mental health. Another theme was to get help when you sense you're losing your mind. Afterwards, we did an assignment.

3/2

Today in class we read and analyzed "I'm Nobody, Who are You" and we talked about what it means to be "somebody" and what it means to be "nobody". The theme of the text was to always stay true to yourself and do not change for anybody. We determined that it's better to be "nobody" because you can be yourself without having to be pressured by society's expectations and standards. We then did an assignment relating to the text for the rest of class.

3/1

Today in class, we learned about types of claims. One type of claim is c laim of value, which is somethings worth, and there must be a criteria (set of standards). Another type of claim is claim of fact and the claim must be arguable. The last kind of claim is claim of policy which is a claim that requires a change.
